At Gulf Coast Worm Farm, we are committed to reducing the amount of food waste that goes into the landfills. This is why we are launching a food waste pick up service!
Contact us to get your service started, or if you have any questions!
See below for options regarding our services.
2.2 Gallon residential food waste bin that is picked up bi-weekly.
4 Gallon residential food waste bin that is picked up bi-weekly,
Multiple size bins available for restaurant and commercial facilities.
Extra fees may apply due to distance
Once we receive your food scraps, they will be weighed and logged for you to be able to track the amount of food waste that did not go to the landfill.
The food scraps will then be sent through a food processor so that they are easy to process for our worms.
Our worms are fed 1-2x/weekly, and it is incredible how much they are able to eat.
After months of feeding, a worm bin will be ready to be processed and castings harvested.
As part of your bi-weekly service, you will receive worm castings for your own garden twice a year, Spring and Fall.
Exact delivery dates will be sent via email.
(1) 5-Gallon bucket of worm castings will be delivered twice a year within your normal pick up window of your food scraps.
-Please remove all scraps from packaging and place in bin.
-Please freeze all food scraps. If the bin does not fit in your freezer, please use compostable bags that we can provided at an additional cost.
-A complete list of approved food scraps will come with your bin, and we can also email you a full list.
-Examples of approved foods: Strawberries, Berries, (and tops), all peels (banana, orange, onion, etc.), greens (celery, lettuce, green beans, etc.), Rinds (watermelon, cantaloupe, etc.) and more fruits and vegetables.
-Can worms compost other things? The answer is yes! However, our breeder and bulk bins are designed to compost rapidly, and foods such as meats, cheese, oils, and breads will start to rot before the worms are able to compost them.
